Click Bait

Click bait is content designed to attract attention and encourage users to click on a link, often through misleading headlines. In most cases the goal of click bait is to increase website traffic and engagement. Typically the headlines feature exaggerated claims, intriguing questions, or shocking statements that can make the reader curious, but may not accurately represent the actual content.

While click bait can be effective to draw visitors to a website it often leads to disappointment when the content fails to deliver on its promises. In most cases this will result in high bounce rates as users quickly leave the page upon realising they have been misled. The initial clicks may boost visibility and rankings temporarily, however, poor user experience can ultimately harm a website’s credibility and rankings.

Google prioritises quality content that satisfies user intent; so, relying heavily on click bait strategies can lead to penalties or decreased rankings over time. For sustainable SEO success, it is essential to balance engaging titles with genuine value in articles or videos.
