Domain structure is the hierarchical arrangement of a website’s domain name and its subdomains, directories, and URLs. The domain structure as it influences how search engines index content and how users navigate through a site. A well-structured domain is usually includes: the top-level domain (TLD), such as .com; the second-level domain, which is usually the brand or business name; and any additional subdomains or folders that categorise content further. For example, in the URL “blog.example.com/articles,” “example.com” is the primary domain, while “blog” serves as a subdomain indicating a specific section dedicated to blog posts.

An effective domain structure enhances user experience by making information easy to find. It also assists search engines in understanding the relationship between different pages on a site. Clear hierarchies can lead to improved crawlability and better indexing of content.
